Hegemonic Play: Gatekeeping Game Culture

Kevin Monkman and I were intrigued with the dynamics of gatekeeping in gaming culture, particularily how boundaries of gaming are created, sustained and challenged.  We created an interactive game board resembling Monopoly to showcase some of the different aspects of gatekeeping specific to videogames and interviewed three people for their perspective on this issue.

Please explore by clicking on the game pieces.  We suggest you start in the middle and then move to History Lane, working clockwise until you end at Jonathan Street.  Enjoy!
